Esplanade Field Trip!

Last Thursday we walked to the Esplanade.  We have been learning about habitats and living things.  We went on a bush walk.  Mrs Lunn could even remember the names of some native trees she learnt way back when she was at Teachers' College! We liked Rangiora (Bushman's toilet paper) the best! We learnt all about pests and predators.  We even got to feed the ducks!  Thanks very much to Mrs Mitchell, Mr Hatier, Mrs Phillips and Mrs Hemsley for helping on our trip! We had a great time!

Mailla's Lucky Day

Guess who is in the window today! Mailla!  She wrote a great story all about chocolates! Yum!

Harry Potter - LC 4 style!

We have a couple of pairs of Harry Potter's glasses in our class.  They are magic!  They help us be amazing readers.  Here is a photo of Micah and Luke trying them on for size.  Guess what... they work!

We Should Appreciate Who We are....

We watched this video and had an in depth discussion about what we learnt from it.

We decided that the peacock needed to learn what he was good at. What do you think??

Living Things Need to Grow

We loved this story about how living things need to grow.

Fun Habitats Song

To help us have fun learning about habitats we found this video song. Play it lots and learn what a habitat is....

Habitats

We have been learning about the different habitats for living things. It has led to some interesting discussions about what different living things need to survive.

Our Esplanade walk will allow us to investigate first hand a variety of different habitats and the living things that we find their.

Here is a video we watched to help understand about habitats.

Learning Teen Numbers Rap

We remember anything if it's put to music and especially the rhythm of rap! Makes learning fun too!!

A fun song to help us learn our simple addition concept

We have used this song to help us learn the concept of addition and the pattern of 1 + ? =

Alive and Not Living

We are learning about how to judge if something is alive or not alive.

Here are some videos that we have been watching to help us learn about the criteria for being 'alive' and what living things need to survive.

Geometry

We have been learning to look for shapes all around us. Here is a song we love about shapes in our environment.

Reading whiz kids!

We have been very busy learning to read at school today.  Here are some cool photos Mrs Lunn took.  Micah and Luke were very busy writing words at the Spelling Table. Mailla was reading some poems and Barnaby and Sahara were busy at the Handwriting Table.  Mrs Lunn says all this practise is making us wonderful readers!

Marvellous Micah

Micah is our Superstar Writer of the Day.  Mrs Lunn was so impressed with the repetition in his story!  Micah gets to take the Wow Writing Folder home with a photocopy of his work in it to show his family.  We wonder who will be the Superstar Writer of the Day tomorrow?  Watch this space!

A furry visitor

On Thursday a rabbit came to visit us.   We thought he was wonderful!  We were able to feed him straw and stroke his soft fur.
